4/04/2012 Great work at Nationals

Congrats to Tom and Jess on outstanding results at the Secondary Schools National Triathlon titles today. In the individual race Jess finished 3rd after having a great swim (pb 19 sec) and awesome ride to come off the bike in 1st place and then was caught by 2 amazing runners so finished 3rd overall. Awesome!

Tom had a very good swim and strong bike to come off the bike in 6th place, then finish in 8th in a very strong senior boys field. Great work Tom.

Both back up to race in the relay event tomorrow where Qld has traditionally been very strong. Bring it on.

Ex RTC juniors Matt R finished 6th and Billy R in 20th. Great work guys.

21/02/2012 Bribie Report Part 2

In the long course the heat was turned up and the cycle and run became very hot for all. Marcus showed us what a talented athlete he is backing up from his Goondi race to take silver in the opens. Helen also backed up from Goondi to be our fastest female and also managing a podium. Again lots of people doing their first ever long course and lots finished in the top 10 in their age groups. Special mention to Podiums - Gold to Joel. Silver to Christine, Kerry, Marcus and Peter H with bronze's to Dan H, Peter D and Helen. Special mention to those who swam the 1km open water for the first time. You couldn't take the smile of Karen's face the entire race after conqouring that fear. I think that means Lane 3 now Karen?

All up I think we worked out we had approx 60 race over the weekend and that was a great show by RTC. Again the support for each other was greatly appreciated by all racing. The jelly's proved to be a small obstacle for a few but everyone that met one was able to finish thankfully. Tina H announced post race that to avoid being stung you needed to breastroke the entire way. NOW you tell us!! We met a few new RTC faces and hopefully we will see them at some training sessions soon. Thanks to Team Nendick for their work with the tents, esky etc. It makes a huge difference having somewhere to all hang together during and after the race. Thanks also to everyone who helped pull down the transition area. Many hands make light work.

Have a look at the photos that are up on the fb page and webpage thanks to Andy, Paul and others. Note especially a photo where Dan H has only just beat Geoff out of the water. Rumour has it Dan drafted off Geoff the whole swim and just ran past him out of the swim but that is still unconfirmed.

21/02/2012 Bribie Race 2 Report

Saturday saw 14 of our young juniors competing in the kids races, a number of them for the first time, and having a great time. They all raced extremely well, just like profesionals and are looking forward to the next one.

Saturday also saw the start of an Ironman campaign for Louisa with her first tri ever in the beginners race. Alongside her was a reluctant starter but now converted triathlete Beth also in her first race. Both ladies were amazing and finished strong and are looking forward to the next one. Onwards and upwards...

Sunday saw a large RTC crowd take on both the long and short course. There were a number of people doing their second tri's ever, and a large number taking on the long course for the first time. In the short course Tom steamed home to be the fastest competitor of the day with all the juniors following close behind with strong runs. Aurora was fastest of our Short Course females but just missed a place in her category coming in 4th with the other girls very close behind her. We had lots that finished in the top 10 but mentions to those who podiumed - Golds to Dave, Tom, Lozza, Andrew and Gai. Silver to Alex, Nick B and Al. Bronze to Naomi, Nic H and Scott D. Look out States the squad is on fire. Honourable mention to the Grieve family for all finishing on the podium this race.

10/02/2012 Good luck at Bribie

Good luck to everyone racing at Bribie this weekend. We will have a large contingent up there over the 2 days so make sure you say hello to your fellow RTC members and cheer them on. We will have both our tents up there very close to the finish line so leave your gear there and come back to there when you have finished racing.

Saturday will see the younger juniors race and the beginners. We have quite a few doing their first race in both the juniors and adults so good luck to you all. Have a great race. Enjoy the finish.

Sunday sees a large number in both the short and long courses. Good luck to everyone, and especially those who have stepped up to the long course for this race for the first time. You will love it... (eventually)

Stay around after the race and chat with other RTC's and help out pull down the transition area if you can. This is one way we earn funds for the club to pay for a number of events that we hold.

Looking forward to seeing you up there having a fun time.

19/12/2011 Christmas Ride

Saturday Christmas Ride - Our usual large number of RTC members turned up at the CC at North Lakes Saturday morning dressed up (and their bikes as well) in all manners of Christmas attire. There was some amazing efforts put into dressing up and our thanks to everyone for getting into the spirit and participating in such a fun way. Special mentions to Kenny A for his Christmas dress outfit (just stunning Kenny), Jess C for her elf attire, Brodie and Vassey for complete Santa costumes, Lou K not only for her attire, but for ensuring the wombat attached to her bike had a christmas helmet on as well. Other mentions to Cath and Nat for outfit, Jordan and Al for outfits and bikes, Gai for having a moving, singing Christmas toy on her head, and to everyone else for all manners of musical toys, costumes and baubles hung in interesting places. Being the back marker of all the groups, I didn't have to know where to go, I followed the tinsel trail all the way to the first stop. Well done everyone. Oh yeah, the ride was fun also.

19/12/2011 Annual Christmas Race

Sunday was our Christmas Charity Event at Queens Beach and again a great morning. 25 went for 6am easy run / walk before our 2km timed race at 7.30am. 45 took part in this with everyone nominating a time they thought they could do for 2km and then running without timing devices to see who could get closest to time. 12 runners were 9 secs or less than predicted, 3 were 5 secs out, 4 were 3 secs out with Nat taking the closest to predicted with a 2 sec difference. She won the coveted perpetual Gold Cup and a $50 voucher from the Aqua Shop. Winning team was Mitch, Karen R, Nat, Rhys and Elliot. Special mentions again to those ladies who completed their first 2km ever and to Tracey who completed the event while recovering from a stress fracture.

Overall we expected 50, catered for 60, but had 75 come instead. Sorry for those who didn't get much brekky and thankyou to Tracey and Rhiann who made slices and cakes for us. Thanks to everyone who helped out, but especially to Browny and Gai who manned the bar-b-ques and fed us all. Gai especially as always organised the breakky and many thanks to her.

Approx $300 was raised and this will be donated to the Tiana Reidy foundation which is a charity started in memory of Tiana who was the daughter of RTC members Cath and Paul. Tiana died in 2009 aged 9 after a 5yr battle with cancer and this foundation raises money to support the work with these children and to one day hopefully find a cure. For more information or to make a donation go to www.tiannareidyfoundation.com

Thanks to everyone and partners who came for the morning, just to be a part of this great club. As always it was a fun morning and we look forward to next years event.

Charity Event Sunday and RTC Breakfast - Queens Beach Redcliffe (NOT SUTTONS BEACH) Arrive at 7.15am ready to start at 7.30am

This Sunday is our annual Christmas charity event and breakfast for all RTC members. This year we will be doing a 2km Time Trial where you tell us the time you think you can walk or run, then everyone walks / runs the 2km and sees how close they can go. No watches will be allowed.... Closest to time wins and everyone will be randomly allocated to a team and the team with the closest aggregate time to predicted also wins.

Cost $5 and ALL money goes to the nominated charity. Bar-b-que breakky after the run and it's a great way to start a Sunday. RSVP to coaching@redcliffetriclub.com if you can come.

CANBERRA 1/2 - Well done to everyone who raced and completed the course. It was a tough day at the office with questions about possible last minute swim cancellations and a bike course that was looking quite technical and tough. Still they all raced, all finished and all got wet in the swim, bike and run as it rained intermittently throughout the day. Special mentions to Craig and Jerrod who completed their first 1/2 ironman's in respectable times of 5.07 and 5.41 respectively. Evergreen Kenny A showed the young ones how it's done coming home in 5.38 and Merryl in 6.45. Ed and Lynn managed to not only arrive with their own bikes, but also ride them to finish in 6.50 and 7.07 with Lynn winning her age group. Great work all.

30/10/2011 Congrats Noosa

Congratulations to everyone who raced at Noosa this weekend. At last count we had 25 that raced individually and 20 of all ages in teams. It was a warm day but everyone managed to cope with the heat and all finished well.

There were lots of pb's over the entire race and a lot also pb'd individual legs of the tri. All in all a great weekend with lots of good laughs.

Well done also to the fantastic support crew who hung around from the start to the finish to cheer all our RTC members in. This was especially noted for those who didn't race but came just to support and cheer on those who did. You remain as always awesome.

Check out the usm website for the full results. Remember that entries for Noosa 2012 open on the 7th November and it is first in first served like in previous years (no ballot).

19/07/2011 Thankyou

A huge thankyou to the RTC members that manned our water stations at the J2J on Sunday. A great, fun time was had by all and those of us running the 10 and 21 appreciated seeing a friendly face along the way, even if it did mean getting doused by a lot of water (yes Lisa I know you were the ring leader.....). Thanks to Deb, Perry, Morgan and Brodie R, Kirsty and Tamara J, Bri M, Dan, Lib, Maddi and Mitch V, Lisa and ring in Casey.

Thankyou also to all the RTC people who were pace setters over the 10km and half marathon distance. It was great to see the resurrection of Big jims Superman outfit, and Kenny A showing his traditional lack of colour co-ordination in his ensemble. The money generated goes to offset our camp fees and will reduce them for everyone who attends.

Well done also to those juniors who raced at State cross country on the weekend. We had 7 racing over 2 sites and they all ran very well. Great work all.

Congrats also to all those who raced in the Jetty 2 Jetty. There were many pbs and a special congrats to Warren Jensen who finished his first ever half marathon. Great work Warren.

26/06/2011 Junior Meeting

RTC would like to welcome Mark Tucker back to RTC to head up the junior development program for the 2011 / 2012 season. It is an exciting time for RTC and will be a change for the well established junior program.

RTC has prided itself in developing up its junior athletes from beginners to the level that we see today, with past RTC juniors currently in the QAS and racing around the world. It is also a program that supports the foundations of the family unit, and reminds the athletes that being a 'nice person' is more important than being a succesful athlete. We encourage athletes to work hard not only in their chosen sport, but also at school and in the community.

We are calling a meeting of all available juniors and their parents this Wednesday 29/06/11 late afternoon, Venue tba. This is to give you an ability to talk with Mark about the new structure, and any questions, thoughts and ideas you may have for this new season.

Mark plans to commence his first session on Monday 11th July (Monday that school goes back) so we need to have this meeting next week if possible to allow time to put the outline of the program in place. Please rsvp to me at coaching@redcliffetriclub.com if you are both able and unable to attend. Can I please urge all juniors and parents to make this meeting a priority in their week.
